In this Art Magna, one may combine, through a limited set of principles, various terms, generating infinite combinations, which by orderly examination, will lead to the truth. For through the turning of wheels and letters, we shall be able to reason and know what is unknown, as the method is bound by rules which, if followed, will yield results not by chance, but by certainty. -- Ramón Lull The investigation of truth is in one way hard, in another easy. An indication of this is found in the fact that no one is able to attain the truth adequately, while, on the other hand, we do not collectively fail, but everyone says something true about the nature of things, and while individually we contribute little or nothing to the truth, by the union of all a considerable amount is amassed. -- Aristotle The thinker makes a great mistake when he seeks to master material by means of a formula, and when he uses dry logical deductions instead of the rich and freely flowing power of imagination. -- Goethe.
